YOUR VOICE MATTERS!
Voices of Our Youth team will respond and interact with our youth and community. We will educate, bring solutions, and help solve community related problems. We will collaborate and bring the necessary professional organizations to help investigate and set goals for our community.
Voices Of Our Youth will articulate for those youth who are afraid to speak up and voice their opinion.
Did you know 9 out of 10 LGBT teens have reported being bullied at school because of their sexual orientation and 40% of youth experiencing homelessness identify as LGBT? Can you imagine not loving your child based on their sexuality? Coming out isn’t always a PIECE OF CAKE.
Music plays an important role in the socialization of children and adolescents. Listening to music is considered by society to be a part of growing up. Music provides entertainment and distraction from problems and serves as a way to relieve tension and boredom. Some studies have reported that adolescents use music to deal with loneliness and to take control of their emotional status or mood.
Voices Of Our Youth use entertainment to satisfy the emotional need for connecting to our family's and our youth. Getting to know each other as individuals and bonding. Shared entertainment moments place everyone on the same level, there is no one in charge and everyone is equal. The ability to switch off a little and simply share in each other’s enjoyment is the key; finding entertainment that is fun for all and makes everybody happy. It provides escapism and is a core component for building happy memories.
Children’s skill sets - physical, mental and social - can be broadened by entertainment, aiding their understanding of the world and general learning and education. Self-expression is another key element, since identity and individuality help children develop a sense of place in the world. Play and creativity are key here.
A crucial emotional need from entertainment is accomplished. Competition and accomplishment of goals are really important for children. Accomplishment develops problem solving and strategic skills as well as social pride and peer recognition, helping develop a child’s autonomy and highlighting the importance of shared goals.
